************************GEN CON******************************

I am going to be attending GEN CON for the first time this year,
and I was wondering how many of you will be attending as well.

Clay Bush and I were thinking that it might be neat that those of
us from the TML, XBOAT, and HIWG lists meet the night before the con
starts.

I would like to suggest around 7pm in one of the restaurants or
lounges in the Marc Plaza (now called Milwaukee Hilton), on Aug 9
(Wednesday). They are renovating the hotel and I have asked them to
send me a brochure of the new facilities.

If enough people show up we could take over the restaurant/bar/lounge!

Anyway, how many people out theRe are planning to go to GEN CON
and would be interested in meeting the rest of us. If others are
already planning something like this, then please let the rest of us know.

Thanks,

Steve Fellows

That reminds me. I was going to check it out for myself, but never got
around to it (mostly because I don't believe the Aslan's have a snowball's
chance in hell of sucessfully invading Glisten, nor that they would be
allowed, should they by some bizarre concatenation of 18 seperate
miracles succeed, to keep it (Nor that any Aslan Clan Lord would be
insane enough to try, for that matter)). Anyway, Glisten was written up in
an issue of_Traveller's Digest_ (I think). Did you base this RICE paper on
that writeup?

A wonderful game, IMHO the best hard science fiction game I have
ever found. And it has the best aliens by far.

I have a the Near Star Map as a computer file, reachable at
http://www.nada.kth.se/~nv91-asa/dive/NYSTAR3.DAT.Z
(there is also a datafile, stars.vr, for the virtual reality
system DIVE where the user can fly around among the stars).

I plan to post my new version of 2300AD soon. I was not
completely happy with the somewhat dated feeling of the game,
so I changed it into a much more dark setting. My version is
essentially the world of Aliens, with some cyberpunk elements
and a much more cynical world. The colonies are poor and
rebellious, the core is growing stranger and stranger, the
Pentapods control an unhealthily large part of the economy,
drugs are extremely common etc.
